A reflective sheen on a surface, usually referring to painted surfaces. The more mirror-like the finish, the higher the gloss of that surface.
Gloss levels range from no reflective surface to increasing shininess, starting from matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and high-gloss, at the most reflective end. The paint determines the gloss of the cabinet along with any coatings that can dull or heighten the shininess.
