A thin layer of wood applied to the surface of a cabinet.
If people want a new look for a cabinet, putting a veneer on the cabinet’s surface is an inexpensive way to remodel the cabinet. A thin layer of wood is affixed in place with an adhesive to create a new skin for the cabinet. The drawbacks are that the process is not forgiving; if the veneer is not correctly placed when set, it is difficult to fix. Also, there is a chance that the veneer can blister or peel if the air is trapped in the layer between the skin and the cabinet box.
