antique white shaker kitchen cabinets

After ordering antique white shaker kitchen cabinets online, there are several things you can do to prepare for their delivery. Preparing your home for your new cabinets and the installation process now will save you time after they arrive.

Prepare Your Home For New Antique White Shaker-Style Cabinets

The first thing you should do is determine where you will unload and store the new RTA cabinets. They must be kept in a controlled environment and not stored in your garage unless it is climate-controlled.

Extreme temperature changes from hot to cold could damage the solid wood boards.

One recommendation is to clear out your dining room and set this up as your storage and staging area. Many people take down their dining room table and move the chairs to their living room or other area of the home.

You may want to put plastic or paint tarps over your flooring and carpeting. You will also want to cover up any furniture left in the room to protect it against sawdust.

The next preparatory step is to prepare your kitchen. You need to empty all of your current cabinets and store dishes, canned goods, and other items safely away.

Some people temporarily store anything they do not need in moving boxes and storage totes. Once all of the upper cabinets have been cleaned out, you can remove them from the walls.

You will want to leave the lower cabinets and your countertop installed unless you do not intend to use the kitchen for an extended period of time to have a functioning kitchen for the time being.

If you intend to paint or wallpaper the walls in your kitchen, this mini-project can be completed after removing the upper cabinets.

Since the lower cabinets and countertop block most of the lower walls in the kitchen, there is no need to paint or wallpaper the entire wall. Hold off on installing splash boards and wall borders until the new cabinets are installed.

On the day of your new white kitchen cabinets’ delivery, you will need to have someone help you unload them off of the truck. The delivery company is not responsible for unloading the cabinets.

If you cannot find anyone to assist you, check with local moving companies. They are often able to provide the help you need to unload the cabinets.

Allow the cabinets to sit inside the home for at least 24 hours to become acclimated to your indoor environment before you start assembling them. During this time, review the assembly instructions to ensure you have all the necessary tools and equipment to put them together properly.

In addition, remove the countertop and lower cabinets from the kitchen if you don’t need them and complete any other prep work, like installing new kitchen flooring, before starting the assembly of your new RTA cabinets.
