A fastener used in cabinet and furniture construction. This attaches two wood panels together while the mechanism remains hidden from exterior view.
Cam Lock system fastener is composed of two parts: The screw and the cam lock nut. The bulb end of the screw is inserted into the cam lock nut, and twisting the nut around the head secures the fastener into place. This creates sturdier interlocking between two panels. Cabinet makers using cam locks design furniture so these mechanisms are on the underside of the panels so they are not visible on the surface. This is more durable than a dowel peg and hole system used to fasten particle boards in shelving or economic furniture.
